“Astrology”

I was born under the sign, Libra. The one astrological sign symbolized by an inanimate, non-living object, the scales, Librans I was once told, do not possess balance.

Rather, we are searching for balance. In that this stands true for me, I find truth and logic in the astrological assertion that the planet, Saturn undergoes exaltation in the sign Libra.

As Saturn can be said to represent karma and the results of one’s actions, along with a whole host of other life aspects that relate to time action and limitations, that the sign Libra calls us into balance, the scales ask justice of us, resonates with me and my living.

My mother was a difficult person with whom to interact, understand and relate, or rather find common ground. And yet this mutual place of rootedness, comprehension and connection lives within me.

I and my life evidence the very things I sought to experience and still seek to create with her nearly two decades in the wake of her death.

Despite all the hurtful words and phrases and injurious acts my mother perpetrated upon me, my brother and father, I still love her.

I cannot explain it. Neither do I seek to justify it. I am who I am because of and despite the person that she was–a person who with the planet Neptune in her astrological chart conjunct Jupiter.

Both Neptune and Jupiter rule the sign Pisces. To further the astrological story my mother’s chart tells, the planets Neptune and Jupiter resided in the twelfth house of my mother’s astrological chart.

Pisces rules the twelfth house of the astrological charts. Neptune and Jupiter as rulers of Pisces rule the twelfth house as well. My mother had a deep well reaching in the depths of not only her personal consciousness, but that of the universe and the collective of humanity.

That she would experience much fear is understandable. She was person walking around with a portal into the universe of soul, a portal while not unique in its existence, but wider and larger than that harbored by mother individuals.

Karen Hamaker-Zondag, author of The Twelfth House, states, “ … mothers with the aspect Neptune conjunct Jupiter in the twelfth house often have children with Sun in the twelfth house.” I was born with Sun in Libra in the twelfth house.

Both our elder daughters were born with their Suns in the twelfth house. And our youngest, who does not have her Sun in the twelfth house was born in with her Sun in the sign of Pisces that rules the twelfth house. (to be continued …)
