I recently heard a podcast, Relationship Revelation, given by Deborah and Lyle Dukes on Chocolate Pages hosted by Pam Perry.

During the interview Deborah Dukes addressed the importance of relationships and how our interactions reveal not only who we are at the core and the essence of our personality, but also how we interact with God.

“You will [discover] what is inside you… [whether] you [have the capacity to] love… when relating to others. …Your relationships with others mirror your relationship with God. The way we treat other people is an indicator, is a guide, [to the nature of] our relationship how with God. [God said,] ‘It is not good for [an individual] to be alone.'”

We need others.

Man cannot live on bread alone. Nor can woman.

Adobe’s Design CS4, Intoxication and Zen in the Art of Writing…

On reading this last night I considered how long it’s taking me to get my novel together, The House, that is. In actuality, the novel is written, and edited. I’m presently working on the layout of the text. I’m a do-it-your-selfer. After purchasing an edition of Adobe’s Design CS4 I feel obligated to at least make an attempt at transferring my novel that I am self-publishing from MS Word to book format.

Of how Nella’s Down’s Syndrome has changed her, Kelle Hampton writes, “I’ve learned how “pain” shapes you as a person and propels you to new depths and how “perfection” is not the glossy magazine cover that Hollywood portrays. I’m learning to shed off the shallow parts of my character I’ve adopted over the years and replace them with love and appreciation for real, painful, beautiful life.”

I can’t say that I have mastered the ability to write to my core in such an eloquent way.

So much of what we do as writers extends from, if not flows out of the voice of our genuine and authentic self. The genuine of which Thurman speaks holds both the key to what we write, and our ability and commitment to writing the words of our hearts as delivered to us through the various dimensions of life that channel into and through us.
At a time when so much about and within our society seeks to silence the genuine, what is honest, unfettered and pure, writers of today stand upon the threshold of a new day. It is a dawning, not unlike times and past eras where old paradigms shifted and some fell in the wake of new ones arising.

Many things can happen during the approach towards the heart of a story, or novel, both for the protagonist, and the writer.

The blossoming flower of romance provides a mainstay in many stories that tug and keep open the hearts and minds of readers, wherein new possibilities enter for them to ponder both in the narrative line of the story, or novel, that perhaps offers a mirror into their own lives.

We come to books, and read not only to know that we are not alone, but also to solidify, validate and unconsciously prepare ourselves for the one constant in all of human living–change.
