The most exciting thing about being a daughter is that of being a daughter. We are who we are.
We are defined often by the tasks with which life charges us, a reality that each moment of breathing and consciousness, action and interaction, thought and idea, imagination, shapes and reshapes.
Our life is a mixture of desires and responsibilities, each pulling at the other, neither one winning out, but each molding and altering the other.
My life as a daughter has and shapes my role as a mother, and wife. My work as a mother and wife, revisions, reforms and reframes the memories I hold as a daughter, the elder child of my mother and her only daughter.
The hopes and dreams I held for how I would please my mother as her only daughter and elder child, though lost to the past, are placed into a more objective perspective by my roles as confidant to my husband and our daughters.
Who I am, what I am, who I hope to become, and will be all rest on the role and task life charged me with in the possibilities that rest in the choices that I, a woman and daughter hold.
And for this I am thankful.
